RIVA (Research Into Violence & Aggression) was established in 2007 as a not
for profit organisation whose aim was to properly map the landscape of
violence with the aim of providing realistic and concrete solutions to
the problems of violence and aggression in todays society.
Most of the research into violence to date has been concerned with purely
quantifying and categorising the types of violence which are prevalent in
society. Much of this research is actually unusable when it comes to advising
individuals (rather than law enforcement agencies etc), what they can do
to protect themselves or reduce their exposure to violent behaviour.
RIVA works with several violence management companies as well as with
public bodies to provide them with the correct information on which
to base their training as well as helping individuals by answering their questions
on violence based on the research done.
